Nhung Chau
If this is your first time stumbling upon a therapy page or therapy has been a friend of yours, I extend my warmest welcome.
I am a first generation Vietnamese Chinese American, and I immigrated to the United States when I was four years old. I understand the difficulty and loneliness of trying to fit into spaces that don’t feel accepting of who your authentic self is. It can be challenging to navigate how to blend your home and cultural values with Western values in a way that aligns with who you are today. It’s common to feel a disconnect when trying to juggle expectations for how our lives ‘should’ be especially when it does not match who we truly are. If there’s a version of yourself that no longer feels aligned with the life you crave, we can sit with them, honor them, and create space for new beginnings. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to explore, question, and discover new ways of thinking and being that aligns with the person they want to be and their cultural identity. Sometimes, change can feel scary, but I hope that together we can create a sense of community where those feelings don’t feel so consuming and discover your preferred way of moving through the world.
I enjoy working with Asian American individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, belonging, identity challenges, neurodiversity, as well as immigrants and children of immigrants. I approach therapy by meeting my client where they’re at in their journey and creating a space that is empathetic, personal, and encouraging. I believe that meaningful change begins with curiosity and openness—through exploring conversations that honor our past and present selves while holding hope for our future selves.
I am here to be with you through the act of storytelling, rewriting and rediscovering. If my words resonate with you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey.
