Micah Flores
Whether it’s shame, helplessness, unhealthy behavioral patterns you’re trying to break, or simply feeling like you’re never enough, you’ve come to the right place. It takes courage to admit you’re struggling, and even more so to ask for help. The environment, culture, and family we grow up in affect our relationships and how we navigate the world.
As a second-generation queer-identifying Filipina American who grew up in rural Illinois, I know how difficult it is growing up in two different cultures and upbringings. My goal as a therapist is to make you feel seen and heard in a safe, supportive environment. I aim to co-create a space tailored to your emotions, needs and personal experiences.
I have worked with adolescents in Hispanic/Latinx middle schools and have experience in creative modalities such as play, art, music, and sand tray therapies. Some common issues I have worked with include anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, neurodivergence, body image, self-esteem, multicultural issues, LGBTQIA identities, and most importantly, intergenerational trauma, especially for refugees and children who grew up in immigrant families. I am also passionate about acknowledging systemic oppression and helping people advocate for the communities they care about. I want to empower you and help you develop the coping skills needed to manage your life in a changing, unstable world.
I hope to stand alongside you in your journey with compassion, empathy, and sincerity. It’s important to me that you choose a therapist who works best for you. If my words resonated with you, feel free to contact me through email or phone to set up a free 10-15 minute consultation call to see if we fit. Looking forward to meeting you!
